Compassion Fills Many; But To Many Who Least Expect It.

There are so many things that allow us to go about a new day in this life.

To learn more… being alone is an easy way to do so.

Being alone and wandering about life is a great way to see the realness that many of us can only wonder about.

Tonight I decided to purchase tacos because I was hungry at the end of the night. As I decided to drive away I noticed the lady in the business telling two guys that they needed a car to be in the drive thru so she could not serve them.

I pulled up and rolled down my window and asked them what they were going to ask for?

They told me “two burritos… very simple.” I backed up and ordered two tacos. I then decided to ask the two guys both around 18-19 years of age where they were headed. They told me just down the street at a certain place. So I told them to hop in and I brought them one mile to the place in question.

When we arrived there was a man quite aggravated in the front of this establishment and we proceeded to walk to a nearby table to eat tacos and burritos.

As we walked by the man glanced at us as he saw us sitting down to eat. He started to address us as a problem because we were there and he was drunk and just decided to be this way. He made a rude comment “these guys just walk up and start eating at a table?”

I told him as I was eating a taco yes would you like one by chance? He told me not at all in a derogatory way, and I told him “OK well have a good night.”

He continued this until he ultimately saw we were not angered by his taco hating, and then decided to leave as he could clearly see we were not bothered at all.

We decided to continue eating tacos and as we did I learned that these guys had some small things in common with myself but were just young and not much money but had no fear at all when it came to walking to a destination or a place they thought was quite important.

While talking I learned one guy walked one time over 115 miles on foot by himself to reach a destination which I thought was quite interesting. Today I certainly do not hear these things at all. I also thought it was quite admirable in it’s own way. We then had a brief conversation about them walking before meeting and I learned they had walked over 6 miles to reach the destination they were currently in at that time.

After brief conversation I learned that these guys were low on funds after hearing about their travels and the number of cigarettes they had left.

One was standing up as he was enjoying the warmth from an outdoor heater for a small time. I asked the two if they needed a ride anywhere before I left and they said no. It was then that I told them both that I wanted to give them each a 10 dollar bill.

They stopped briefly for a second. After I handed it to them they both immediately asked me why and thanked me. I told them I over heard them speaking that the pack of cigarettes they currently had was supposed to last them for a small time over the weekend, and I knew that was not going to happen so I decided to help after having a great conversation and experience with strangers.

They told me in a very appreciative manner thank you again, and we said our good byes while we both walked away.

This story is one to remind us all that no matter where we are; there are people who may be lingering.

Lingering and never asking for anything but we are there and can possibly help.

And help we should.
